Victoria Costumes is a proud member of the Saanich Peninsula Chamber of Commerce and was recently awarded the 2009 NEW BUSINESS OF THE YEAR, and also an 'Honorable Mention' for the 2009 INNOVATION & ENTREPRENEURSHIP award at the annual 'Crystal Awards' for Business Excellence.
Victoria Costumes sits on the organizing committee for the prestigious Victoria Masquerade Ball and was elected media co-ordinator & live auction co-ordinator. Victoria Costumes was not only responsible for organizing and costuming all the actors in the 2008 Victoria Masquerade Ball’s TV commercial but Rennison also played the lead female role. As a result of this support and much success, Victoria Costumes has been asked to costume the 2009 commercial and has been made sponsor of this year’s 2009 Masquerade Ball on Saturday October 24, 2009 (see Press page).
Victoria Costumes also sits of the committee in the annual Sidney 'RIBS' event, a “Cops for Cancer” fundraiser. As media coordinator & also a participant in the event, spectators come from all around to see a variety of entertaining costumes on display. This year’s event will be held at the ‘RC Grill’ in Sidney on Saturday September 12, 2009.
Victoria Costumes is also a member of The Victoria Pirate Society (winners of the 2008 Esquimalt Buccaneers Day Parade). Rennison is the media co-ordinator & sits on the organizing committee for the annual 'Grub & Grog' Party'.
Rennison is also a member of the Peninsula Players Association & volunteers her time as their 'Costume Mistress' for their theatre productions.
Victoria Costumes was featured on CH News (Channel 6) “Check Around” with Gordie Tupper (video can be viewed on our Press page).
Rennison has also been the feature model on the front cover of the ‘LIFE’ section in the Times Colonist, consequently garnering attention and an abundance of business to the evening wear, costumes and masks for rent (see Press page).
Victoria Costumes was also responsible for organizing models and costuming 14 superheroes to the IMAX Batman 'Dark Knight' on opening night. Featured on 103.1 JACK FM website & interviewed by several newspapers, Victoria Costumes was featured on the front cover of the Times Colonist ‘MOVIES’ section. (see the Press page).
Victoria Costumes also has two separate online Facebook groups. The first group, called “I Love VictoriaCostumes.com”, has well over 800 members who are kept up to date with new costumes, discounts, ticket give-aways, and more. Victoria Costumes posts many local public theme events here and members can also post & view pictures of a wide variety of in-action costumes. The second group spawning from this is “I want to be a Victoria Costumes Model” and currently sits at 375 members and rapidly growing. Now that Victoria Costumes is well connected with people in the local entertainment industry, it is often called upon to find volunteers and paid employees to use as models in opportunities such as TV, music videos, movies and photo shoots. Victoria Costumes used members of this group for events such as the IMAX Batman movie launch and the 'A' Channel morning show to name a few.
Victoria Costumes has been featured on stage in multiple productions including Once upon a Mattress, Why the Chimes Rang, Tribute to the 70’s, The Cirque de Soleil style production Evoke, Tribute to Disney, Brentwood Elementary’s Pinocchio and for organizations such as The St. Luke's Players Community Theatre, Victoria Youth Musical Theatre, Arthur Murray School of Dance and many more.
Victoria Costumes is a sponsor & avid supporter of many fundraisers including BC Cancer Foundation, UNICEF, BC Children’s Hospital , BC Cancer Foundation, Ministry of Children and Family Development, The Salvation Army, Sidney Lions Food Bank, 24 Hour Relay 2008 Facebook Team, Cats Cradle Animal Rescue, 'The Vagina Monologues” fundraiser for Victoria Women's Transition House, “MOVEMBER" Benefit for The Prostate Cancer Research Foundation of Canada, Stelly's Grad Fashion Show, Lansdowne Cooperative Preschool, Project Ovoko fundraiser for children in Nigeria, Victoria International Improv Festival MS Fundraiser, Stelly's Secondary School’s “Global Perspectives Annual Gala”, TBONEZ "Givin' Back" fundraiser for Multiple Sclerosis, and more.
